Where to Place Mineral Sites for Deer

Published on June 7, 2016 by Alan Clemons

Helping deer by putting out mineral sites isn’t as easy as just tossing out a few salt blocks or a bag of super-duper mineral rack-grower and calling it done.

While a mineral site isn’t brain surgery, it still requires some thought and attention. Dan Schmidt and the Deer & Deer Hunting team explain in the latest Deer Talk Now episode the key points to consider when establishing trace mineral sites for white-tailed deer.

These include creating the mineral site near a water source, having some security cover nearby, and a third key element to seal the deal. What’s the third one? You’ll have to watch to find out.

Schmidt also highlights the Deer Talk Now Product of the Week: the Vision 8 Lightsout Trail Camera from Wildgame Innovations.
